30 years ago ... Aug. 18, 1982 — The Kensal Merchants, a women’s slow-pitch softball team, advanced at the Class F state tournament with a 14-8 win over Flasher and Dickinson F 5-0. However, the squad dropped a pair of games to Minot Wild Pitch 30-4 and to Dodge 18-3.

20 years ago ... Aug. 18, 1992 — Redge Nohrenberg won the Street Stocks feature at Jamestown Speedway. He took the lead after five laps, and didn’t face much of a challenge until Carrington’s Cory Stangeland came up behind him after a caution. Nohrenberg pulled away quickly for the win.

10 years ago ... Aug. 18, 2002 — Overland Park, Kan., standout pitcher Aaron Burris twirled a no-hitter against Jamestown at the Central Plains Regional Legion baseball tournament in Williston. Overland Park won 8-0, pounding out 19 hits. Jamestown’s Seth Domek took the loss.
