Special events
Windfest in Kulm, N.D. Today’s events include scavenger hunt, parade, antique tractor show, parade, demolition derby, inflatable games, musical performances, a melodrama, street dance and mechanical-bull riding.
Wild West shoot-out, 3 p.m., Frontier Village.
Pipestem Creek Trail Run, 9:30 a.m., Pipestem Reservoir. Registration opens at 9 a.m. at trailhead near Pipestem Dam. Cost is $15 to walk or run.
Wrangler Team Roping Championship, 7 p.m., James River Rodeo Arena, Stutsman County Fairgrounds. No admission charge to watch.
Pet Appreciation Day with Prairie Paws Rescue, Jamestown Tractor Supply, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Adoptable pets will be at event.
Sunday, Aug. 19
Special events
Gear Grinder Mountain Bike Race, Pipestem Reservoir. Registration, opens at 8 a.m. at Pipestem Creek Trail trailhead near Pipestem Dam. Races start between 8:30 and 10 a.m. Cost: $10 to $30 depending on racing class.
