JHS places sixth at Century Invite

BISMARCK — Freshman Sierra Bennion shot a 78 to finish in a tie for sixth place, and the Jamestown girls golf team placed sixth at the Century Invite on Saturday at Tom O’Leary Golf Course.

Bennion’s best round was a 38 on the back nine, helping the Blue Jays to a team total of 397, 41 strokes ahead of Williston and 18 strokes behind fifth-place Mandan.

Maria LeFevre finished with a 96, while Sarah Azure’s 111 was third-best on the team. Kaitlin Mullowney (112), Mara LeFevre (117) and Savannah Kramlich (119) rounded out the scoring.

Dickinson’s Rianna Cooper won the meet, carding a 73. Bismarck Century blew away the competition for the team title, as its 318 bested runner-up Bismarck High by 30 strokes.

The Blue Jays will take some time off before heading to Minot for a tournament Aug. 30 at Roughrider Golf Course on the Minot Air Force Base.
