Transitions topic of planned conference
The 2012 Northern Plains Conference on Aging and Disability, “Transitions Throughout the Lifespan,” will be held Sept. 25-27 at the Ramada Plaza Suites in Fargo. This annual event features experts on aging, behavioral and mental health and well-being, and disability-related issues.
The 2012 Northern Plains Conference on Aging and Disability, “Transitions Throughout the Lifespan,” will be held Sept. 25-27 at the Ramada Plaza Suites in Fargo. This annual event features experts on aging, behavioral and mental health and well-being, and disability-related issues.
The conference will feature numerous workshops on topics including enhancing activities for nursing home residents, estate planning for families with disabled children, building resiliency among people and organizations, Social Security benefits, depression in the elderly, reducing stress with humor, and maintaining professional boundaries. Speakers will also share their expertise on topics relating to dementia and overall brain health for people of all ages.
Conference programming also includes inspirational speakers, as well as facility tours, meals and refreshments, door prizes and exhibit booths.
Organizers said the three-day event is intended for caregivers, advocates, health and social service professionals, older individuals and people with disabilities, service providers, students and others involved in the field of aging-related services.
People can get a registration form and brochure online at www.northern plainsconference.com/. An early registration discount is available through Aug. 27. About 350 people attended last year’s conference.
