ND town mulls annexation for proppant depot

RICHARDTON, N.D. (AP) — City officials in Richardton are considering annexing land west of town for a proppant distribution center.

Richardton City Commission President Frank Kirschenheiter (KUR’-shen-hy-tur) says Houston-based Halliburton is considering building the rail facility that would distribute the sand-like material used to increase the recovery of crude.

Kirschenheiter says no details have been released about the facility but Halliburton is expected to disclose the plan soon.

Kirschenheiter says a public hearing on the city's annexation plan is slated for early October.
