Bennion, Zent cited by Optimist Club
Sierra Bennion of Jamestown High School and Jamestown College’s Katie Zent have been named Athletes of the Week by the Jamestown Optimist Club.
Sierra Bennion of Jamestown High School and Jamestown College’s Katie Zent have been named Athletes of the Week by the Jamestown Optimist Club.
Bennion, a freshman on the JHS girls golf team, placed third in the East-West Classic golf meet. Bennion fired a round of 75 in the second round to move up 11 places after Day 1 of the tournament. The 75 was a career-best round. On Aug. 18, she placed sixth at the Century Invitational.
Zent, a senior from Lefor, N.D., on the JC women’s volleyball team, had 19 kills, nine digs, four blocks and three aces as the Jimmies went 2-0 Aug. 18 in Valley City. Zent also hit .333 in the two matches.
Figure, hockey skating classes set
The Jamesriver Figure skating Club is holding fall session registration for figure skating classes and hockey skating classes Aug. 28 and 30 from 6:30-8 p.m. at Eagles Arena.
The basic skills that will be taught include forward skating, backward skating, stops, edges, crossovers, turns and Mohawks.
The hockey curriculum is designed to teach the fundamentals of hockey skating and will be taught in four badge levels. All elements will be taught without a puck.
