Jamestown Fire Department calls Aug. 17-23:
Aug. 18: 9:42 p.m., fire department responded to 330 Business Loop West, Dairy Queen, to a report of a fire. Firefighters arrived on scene and no visible flames showing. Firefighters checked for smoke/fire and investigated. Cause: grill hood system flashed. No firefighter injuries. Time out: 30 minutes.
Aug. 21: 9:16 p.m., ready squad responded to 1003 13th St. NE, North Stop-N-Go, to a report of a fuel spill. Firefighters used floor dry to absorb the gasoline and advised employees to sweep up the floor dry; dispose of it properly. Cause: overfilled vehicle tank. Time out: 30 minutes.
Aug: 21: ready squad responded to 116 First St. East, alley behind All Vet’s Club, to a report of a Dumpster smoldering. Firefighters sprayed water on it and investigated. Cause: unknown. Time out: 25 minutes.
Aug: 22: ready squad responded to 1615 Second Place NE, single family dwelling, to investigate carbon monoxide detector activation. Firefighters checked for carbon monoxide and detected 73 ppm. Occupants were advised to stay some other place for the night or until repairs were made. Cause: water heater malfunction. Time out: one hour.
