Area High School Volleyball Roundup: Cardinals edge Midkota for title

Carrington rallied after falling 25-11 to Midkota in the first game to win the next two 25-23 and 15-8 and win the Lakota Invite in Class B volleyball on Saturday in Lakota.

Rolla topped New Rockford-Sheyenne 25-19, 25-23 for third place.

Hornets capture Bottineau Invite title

The Harvey-Wells County volleyball team topped North Star 25-19, 11-25, 15-11 in the Bottineau Invite championship on Saturday.

Harvey-WC did it with pool play wins over Tioga, Newburg-Westhope, Rugby and Glenburn. It suffered its only loss to host Bottineau, which beat Mohall-Lansford-Sherwood for third place.

Lions take seventh at Hazen tourney

Linton-Hazelton-Moffit-Braddock upended last year’s state runner-up Stanley 19-25, 25-22, 15-10 to take seventh place in the gold division of the Coal Country Invite on Saurday in Hazen.

Linton-HMB tied Berthold and Beulah and beat Center-Stanton in pool-play action. The Lions lost to Minot Our Redeemer’s 25-20, 28-26 in the quarterfinals.

Kenmare beat Minot Our Redeemer’s 24-26, 25-23, 15-13 for the gold division championship.

The Mustangs took a Region 3 match 25-19, 25-13, 25-19 from Kidder County on Saturday.

Madison Schnabel had nine kills three blocks and nine digs, and Raechelle Salzer added three aces for the Mustangs.
