Class B roundup: Cardinals rally back to defeat Valley City

After dropping the third and the fourth games to the Hi-Liners in Valley City, the Carrington Cardinals rallied back in the fifth 15-10 to decide it in Class B volleyball action on Tuesday night.

Madison Wendel pounded home 20 kills for Carrington in the victory. While the Cardinals’ Josey Page led the team with 16 digs and nine ace serves.

Napoleon 3, Ellendale 1

Ellendale took the opening set, but it was all Napoleon from there as the Imperials left with a 3-1 win.

The first three sets were tight, but the Imperials closed it out 25-14. Kecia Ellison and Brianna Wolf combined for 21 kills with 11 and 10, respectively.

Lucinda Stoppleworth topped the attack for the Cardinals with 12 kills. Shayna Mertz chipped in with eight.

Presley Paintner had 15 kills, 11 assists and six aces for Griggs County Central but it was not enough as Larimore notched a 3-1 win over the Cougars in Cooperstown.

Tied 1-1, the Polar Bears outlasted the Cougars 29-27 in the third set and were propelled to the win. Alexis Savre added eight kills and six aces.

Susan Pifer had seven kills and seven aces to top Larimore.

Kidder County dropped the first set, but reeled off the next three to score a 3-1 win over Litchville-Marion-Montpelier.

Erica Kahl had 20 assists, 13 kills and six aces for the Pirates, who closed it out, 25-23. Jordan Johnson added 10 kills and Leah Ochsner passed out 13 assists.

Tanys Ulmer and Heather Graalum each had five kills for the Rebels. Tasha Piehl had 11 digs and Leah Bruse seven assists.

The Comets were paced by Callie Brorby’s 11 kills. Alexa Martinson had seven assists.
