Welcome students at downtown Block Party
For the fifth year in a row the city of Jamestown will welcome incoming Jamestown College students today to the place many will call home for the next four years or more. It’s a great opportunity to let those students know what Jamestown has for them and it’s also a great opportunity for residents to make them feel welcome.
For the fifth year in a row the city of Jamestown will welcome incoming Jamestown College students today to the place many will call home for the next four years or more. It’s a great opportunity to let those students know what Jamestown has for them and it’s also a great opportunity for residents to make them feel welcome.
Last year close to 3,000 people attended the College Community Connection Block Party in downtown Jamestown. It’s become so popular that there is even a waiting list for booth space this year.
That’s a good sign.
Jamestown College President Bob Badal will lead a throng of students to First Avenue to show them that the Jamestown community has a lot to offer and that it’s only a short walk from campus.
Badal has called the event “a rite of passage into the community.”
Not only does this event welcome in the new students, it also gives the community a chance to show itself off.
Organizations, vendors, employers, churches, businesses and more will be on hand as well as residents who decide to take in the festivities.
It’s a chance for the community to connect with the college and for the college to connect with the community. That’s truly what makes this a unique event for students and residents alike.
Along with vendors, organizations, businesses and more, there will be games and activities for children.
It has become the biggest downtown party of the year.
We’d like to say welcome to Jamestown College students. The students and the college are an important part of our community. We expect the turnout at the block party will confirm that quite handily.
