Class B Volleyball Roundup: P-B-K off to a 1-0 start to the season

The Pingree-Buchanan-Kensal Rebels are off to a 1-0 start to the 2012 high school Class B volleyball season, with a three-set sweep over the visiting Edgeley-Kulm Rebels in Pingree on Thursday night.

The Pingree-Buchanan-Kensal Rebels are off to a 1-0 start to the 2012 high school Class B volleyball season, with a three-set sweep over the visiting Edgeley-Kulm Rebels in Pingree on Thursday night.

P-B-K was lights out at the service line, recording 18 ace serves as the team rolled 25-13, 26-16, 25-18.

Shantel Albrecht and Morgan Thomas led P-B-K with seven and five aces, respectively. Albrecht also led the team with 10 digs.

Heather Palmer led E-K’s offensive attack with a team-high three kills.

Griggs County Central won for the second time this week, sweeping New Rockford-Sheyenne 3-0.

It was close in the first two sets, but the Cougars finished it off 25-11.

Alexis Savre and Presley Paintner combined for 24 kills with 14 and 10, respectively. Paintner added eight assists.

Lacey Grann had five kills and four blocks to lead the Rockets. Lexi Weber added five kills.

Underwood’s Anne Hefta collected 12 kills, four blocks and three ace serves, helping the Comets defeat the Lady Pirates in four games in Steele.

The Comets took the first two frames 25-15, before Kidder County stormed back with a dominate 25-14 third game. Underwood brought the match to an end in the fourth with a 25-23 victory.

Jordan Johnson led the Pirates with eight kills, while teammates Kacey Koester (7) and Erica Kahl (6) combined for 13 ace serves.

The Tornadoes made quick work of Hankinson in Oakes, strolling in straight sets 25-19, 25-16, 25-16.

Nicole Warren racked up 16 kills, while Lydia Hansen added 11, to help the Tornadoes improve to 2-1 on the season. Sydney Breitbach tossed up 34 assists for the winning team.

Mariah Jangula had five kills and seven aces, and Briana Wolf added six kills and four aces as the Napoleon volleyball team dispatched of Central Prairie 25-10, 25-13 and 25-10 in Napoleon.

Kendra Weigel added three aces and 21 assists for the Imperials.

Central Prairie was led by Jordan Spitzer’s 15 digs.
