Jimmies win marathon opener in Mitchell, S.D.
The Jimmies dug out of a deep hole to win their opening match at the Dakota Wesleyan Invite in Mitchell, S.D., on Friday. Down 2-0 after a pair of ugly sets, the Jimmies reeled off three straight wins: 25-18, 25-23 and 15-11 to defeat NCAA Division II Sioux Falls, S.D.

Down 2-0 after a pair of ugly sets, the Jimmies reeled off three straight wins: 25-18, 25-23 and 15-11 to defeat NCAA Division II Sioux Falls, S.D.
The Jimmies (5-2) scored just 26 points combined in the opening two sets.
Sarah Becker led the attack with 10 kills. She also had four blocks. Freshman Alaina Brown had a big match with 9 kills and 23 digs. Kesley Deragish set 24 assists and Katie Lee dug up 21 balls.
The Jimmies had 16 hitting errors and 11 serving miscues, but still found a way to win.
The Jimmies’ second match of the day against host Dakota Wesleyan was scheduled for an 8 p.m. start, but began late after the 5-setter against Sioux Falls. Results were not available at press time.
