A veteran of the glass business since 1980, Jamestown native and resident Larry Hust is now the owner of his own automotive glass shop in southeast Jamestown.
The former manager of Midwest Auto Glass Center in southwest Jamestown, the 51-year-old Hust opened Larry’s Auto Glass on Aug. 6.
“It’s allowed me to make things more simplistic and deal directly with the customers,” said Hust, when asked about the difference between his former role as a manager and current role as a new store owner.
Hust said Larry’s Auto Glass’s defining quality is its ability to work one-on-one with customers.
“That’s what can set us apart, and we even add a special touch that we’ll vacuum out the vehicle and clean the windows when we’re done,” he said. “Hometown owned and operated — so that’s the service we hope to provide.”
Hust said he himself and the store’s other full-time technician will handle any and all automotive glass needs.
“We work for all major insurance companies, do glass work for all the major trucking companies in the area and also work with farm implement sections including Butler, Central Sales, Case, Titan Machinery and John Deere,” he said.
For now, the company conducts business within the city of Jamestown and outside of the city for about a 25- to 30-mile radius, but Hust hopes to grow the operation in the future.
“That will expand as time goes on. Right now we’re just dabbling with our area to cover, but eventually we will have mobile services that take us beyond that,” he said.
Larry’s Auto Glass is located at 719 12th Ave. SE in Jamestown.
The store is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
