Conlon helps Ducks to season-opening win

Katie Conlon placed third in her first Division I cross country meet. The former Blue Jay and Jimmie standout came in third for the No. 1-ranked Oregon Ducks cross country team at the Pier Park Invitational Saturday in Portland, Ore.

The former Blue Jay and Jimmie standout came in third for the No. 1-ranked Oregon Ducks cross country team at the Pier Park Invitational Saturday in Portland, Ore.

Conlon, who was an 11-time All-American for the Jimmies in track and cross country, finished in a time of 17:13.18. The top five finishers in the race were all Oregon runners. The winning time in the 5K race was 17:12. The Ducks won the 4-team meet, consisting of Oregon State, Portland and Portland State.

Conlon transferred to Oregon last spring. She has one year of eligibility remaining in cross country, indoor and outdoor track.
