Optimist Club honors athletes
Jamestown High School’s Kamie Wagar and Kyle Schumacher, along with Jamestown College’s Kaitlyn Rogalla and Gus Ramasco, were all selected as athletes of the week by the Jamestown Optimist Club.

Wager, a senior on the Blue Jay girls swimming team, won the 100-meter butterfly in the double dual against Bismarck High School and Bismarck Century in a state-qualifying time. She is ranked fourth in the state in that event.
Wager also qualified for state in the 100 breaststroke. Wager is a captain for the swim team.
Schumacher, a freshman on the Blue Jay boys cross country team, was the top Blue Jay finisher at the Valley City State University Invitational cross country meet held at the Valley City Country Club last Friday. In leading his team to the team title, Schumacher placed second overall and covered the 4,000-meter course in 14 minutes, 4 seconds.
Rogalla, a senior right-side hitter on the Jimmie volleyball team, was selected to the all-tournament team at the Corn Palace Classic in Mitchell, S.D. Rogalla, a native of Moorhead, tallied 39 kills hitting .403 to go along with nine blocks in the Jimmies’ 4-0 weekend.
Ramasco, a sophomore quarterback on the Jimmie football team, engineered an offense that accumulated 349 total yards and led the Jimmies to four touchdowns.
Ramasco, from Winnemucca, Nev., passed for two touchdowns and scored one. He also completed 18 of 34 passes for 227 yards.
