ND ag agency offers help in seeking disaster aid

North Dakota's Agriculture Department is offering help for farmers who are eligible to apply for federal disaster aid because of drought.

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — North Dakota's Agriculture Department is offering help for farmers who are eligible to apply for federal disaster aid because of drought.

Farmers and ranchers in a group of 16 eastern North Dakota counties may be able to apply.

North Dakota Agriculture Commissioner Doug Goehring (GORE’-ing) says farmers have up to eight months to apply for emergency loans from the federal Farm Service Agency.

Goehring says the state ag department's mediation service can provide help with loan applications.

He says the state-owned Bank of North Dakota also has a disaster relief loan program
