Representatives of Sodexo Inc. and Valley City State University held a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Aug. 22 to celebrate the grand opening of the cafeteria at the VCSU Student Center. The event marks the completion of a $425,000 renovation and expansion in the level of service provided by Sodexo as part of the renewal of its contract with VCSU to provide food services at the facility.
In addition to a floor-to-ceiling remodeling, the project converted the facility to enable a new and enhanced level of service for diners. Referred to as “platform dining,” the cafeteria now features multiple food stations, each appealing to different tastes. Now available to diners are stations for entrées, a grill, a full deli, international foods, soup and salad, pizza and deserts/beverages.
The facility is available to VCSU students as part of their dining contract and is also open to the public for lunch (11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.) and dinner (5 to 7 p.m.) Monday through Friday.
Sodexo has been the food service provider for VCSU for the past 34 years, and the recent contract renewal extends that relationship for an additional five years with an option for five more.
