The Jamestown College men’s golf team took seventh during the Augsburg College Fall Invitational at Majestic Oakes Golf Course in Ham Lake, Minn., over the weekend.
The two-day event, which started on Saturday and finished Sunday, didn’t exactly play into the hands of the Jimmies from the get-go, according to Jamestown College men’s golf coach Dustin Jensen.
“(Saturday’s) weather was horrible. Thirty mile per hour winds the entire round,” Jensen said. “(Sunday) we couldn’t get it going, but we had a solid finish in a large field.”
The Jimmies shot a 318 on Saturday and followed that up with a 314 on Sunday on the Par 72, 6,869-yard course. Their two-day total of 632 was 36 strokes behind tournament winner Gustavus Adolphus College, who tallied an even 600.
The Jimmies, however, still finished ahead of mid-pack, beating nine teams in the 16-team invite.
Jamestown’s Tyler Baukol paced the Jimmies, putting together rounds of 79 and 78 for a total of 157, placing in a tie for 19th. The Jimmie’s Jack Bietz and Tommy Rockis finished in a tie for 22nd at 158. Results can be found on B3
Next up for the Jimmies is the Valley City State Invitational at Maple River Golf Course this Sunday.
