The Jamestown Rural Fire Department responded to a grass fire at about 5:25 p.m. Monday.

Rick Woehl, department chief, said the fire was 5 miles south of Jamestown on U.S. Highway 281, and three miles to the east. About 10 acres in a low-lying area that was hayed were burned.

The fire department also responded to a fire at around 3 p.m. Saturday northwest of Jamestown, about 5 miles north on U.S. Highway 281 and 5 miles west by the road to Parkhurst Campground.

Eight units and 18 firefighters were on the scene for about 3 1/2 hours. The fire burned about 100 acres of cropland, Woehl said.

There were no injuries at either fire.
