Bismarck’s Cole Olson assisted on three Demon goals, while scoring three of his own to record the hat trick, as Bismarck High demonstrated why it’s on top of the West Region boys soccer standings on Tuesday night in Jamestown.

The Blue Jays kept the Demons in check for the most part during the first half at Rotary Field, as Bismarck led just 2-0 at the half. But a barrage of Bismarck offense followed after the break, including all three of Olson’s goals, which handed the Demons an 8-1 victory over the Jays.

Bismarck’s Christian Clausnitzer, Cole Lawrence, Nash Iniger and Olson all found the back of the net in the second half to make it a 6-0 Bismarck lead at the 67th-minute mark. Jamestown cracked the scoreboard just a minute later, as Beau Waldock, assisted by Jacob Sherfy, broke up the shutout with a goal of his own.

But it was all Olson after that, as the junior midfielder scored back-to-back goals to close out the match.

Jamestown goalkeeper Hunter Munson record seven saves in the contest, turning away five Bismarck shots on goal in the first half to keep the Jays in it early. Todd Kessler recorded 11 saves in front of the net for Bismarck.

The Demons improved to 7-1-2 overall and are now 5-1 in the West. Jamestown fell to 1-8 overall and 1-4 in West Region play.

The Blue Jays host Mandan at Rotary Field at 7 p.m. on Tuesday. The Jays picked up their first win of the season over Mandan 2-0 last month.
