Sheet music event set at Arts Center

The National Sheet Music Conference is Oct. 5-7 at the Arts Center in Jamestown.

The National Sheet Music Conference is Oct. 5-7 at the Arts Center in Jamestown.

America’s sheet music collectors and dealers will take part in a weekend of educational and activities. The schedule:

Oct. 5, 4 p.m., welcome by Taylor Barnes, director, Arts Center, 4:15 to 5 p.m., browse sales tables, visit with other collectors, 5 p.m., informal show and tell, with discussion (bring one or more of your favorite sheets, or favorite story about sheet music.

Oct. 6, 9 a.m., sales area opens and continues throughout the day, 9:15 a.m., welcome and introductions, 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., four speakers, each with a presentation on their area of expertise in vintage sheet music: Dr. Terry Parrish, Indianapolis, Ind., Dr. Robert Groves, North Dakota State University, Fargo, Le Schreiner, Rockford, Ill., and Rudolf Polt, Honolulu, Hawaii.

Cost for admission to the events is $5 each day (includes complimentary coffee and snacks).

On Oct. 7 an open house at Yvonne’s Music Archives, Eldridge, N.D., is planned.
