The Jamestown High School volleyball team suffered another five-game loss on Thursday night.
After a dropping a five-gamer to Bismarck Century at home on Tuesday, the Blue Jays let Dickinson rally to a 3-2 win in West Region play in Dickinson.
Set scores were 26-24, 11-25, 26-24, 25-19 and 15-11.
“Our back row kids are having some trouble with confidence,” Jamestown coach Sara Hegerle said. “We pride ourselves on passing and defense and serving, and we’re not getting it done, and it really has a big impact on what we’re doing in the front row.”
Dickinson edged the Jays in the first game, but Jamestown rallied with a dominant game 2. That followed into the third game, which Jamestown also won. However, Dickinson took the last two, and just like against Century, the fifth game wasn’t very competitive.
Hegerle said the Blue Jays need to start to think like a volleyball power and less like a team that just wants to be competitive.
“We’re no longer a team that can (say), ‘At least we beat them in two games,’ ” Hegerle said. “What Dickinson did tonight that we didn’t do is they put on the Dickinson uniform. That was enough for them. It’s such a mental thing for our kids. It’s that we’re-not-supposed-to-win attitude.”
Jamestown’s Addie Eamon finished with 15 kills and four blocks. Siri Jystad had 12 kills and two blocks, while Josie Hegerle ended with 22 assists, five aces and 14 digs.
The Blue Jays are back in action on Tuesday when they visit Bismarck High.
