Edgeley-Kulm nips Lady Bison

Ashley Boom hammered out nine kills, four aces and three blocks in Edgeley-Kulm’s thrilling 22-25, 25-13, 25-9, 20-25, 15-7 win over Barnes County North in Class B volleyball action in Edgeley on Thursday night.

Hallie Anderson added 12 assists and nine aces in the winning effort. The Lady Bison were led by Samantha Wieland’s five kills and Jayda Haugen’s 11 assists.

The Cardinals survived an early 25-21 hiccup to the Rockets in New Rockford, and cruised to the victory over the next three games by the finals of 25-19, 25-10, 25-10.

Madison Wendel led the Cards in kills with nine, while Josey Page (15) and Nikki Braaten (10) combined for 25 assists for the red birds.

Katie Gisi and Ashley Ystaas each recorded five kills for the Rockets.

Shayna Mertz picked up four kills, while Rachel Herman tossed up seven assists, helping the Ellendale Cardinals to a 3-1 win over Pingree-Buchanan-Kensal in Ellendale.

The Rebels kept things interesting by defeating Ellendale 28-26 in the second frame, but ultimately fell 25-7 in the final game.

The Rebels’ Amanda Beckley notched a match-high seven kills, while Lindsey Saxberg added a match-high 14 assists.

Madison Schnabel’s 12 kills led the way for South Border, while the Mustangs’ Hannah Bettenhausen (28) and Kalli Scherbenski (25) combined for 53 digs in the back row.

The Imperials received 10 kills from Brenna Schmidt and 27 digs from Shania Gross.
