Temple Baptist Church will again serve as the Relay Center for the Operation Christmas Child Shoebox Project this year. Boxes will be collected at its new location next to the high school. The address is 1200 12th Ave. NE in Jamestown.

In this project, regular shoeboxes are packed with personal hygiene items, school supplies, miscellaneous small toys, hard candy and other items. They are then sent worldwide to millions of children in more than 95 countries affected by war, poverty, disease and disaster. The gospel message is presented with every shoebox.

Temple Baptist Church is inviting residences, churches, clubs and organizations in Jamestown and the surrounding area to participate. Last year 777 shoeboxes were delivered from the Jamestown collection site.

Collection week is Nov. 12-18. Special shoeboxes and brochures are available at the church or by calling David Patzer at 320-9789. Using a plastic container the size of a normal shoebox is a way of giving an additional gift to a family in need.

Operation Christmas Child is a ministry of Samaritans Purse. Contact it at Samaritan’s Purse, P.O. Box 3000, Boone, NC 28607, or visit its website www.samaritanspurse.org, or call toll free at 1-800-353-5949.
