Ryan Benke banged through a 37-yard field goal in overtime as the Jimmies got win No. 1 on the season Saturday afternoon at Rollie Greeno Field.
After South Dakota Mines kicker Kolten Jelden missed a 28-yarder on the first overtime possession, Benke nailed the pressure kick for a 17-14 victory.
The Jimmies were held to 17 points, despite running for nearly 300 yards. It was the best offensive performance of the season for JC, although it netted just 17 points.
Still, it gets the Jimmies (1-3) off the schnide.
"It feels amazing," said senior running back Lance Johansen, who ran for 162 yards on 20 carries. "We needed a win pretty bad."
Valley City is up next for the Jimmies on Saturday in Jamestown.
