A two-story barn with a tractor, car and two boats inside was lost to a fire Friday evening about 11 miles north of Jamestown, according to Rich Woehl, Jamestown Rural Fire Department chief.
The JRFD was dispatched at about 6:50 p.m. Friday to the east side of N.D. Highway 20 where it meets Stutsman County Road 42 β the road to Spiritwood Lake.
Woehl said the homeowner was burning garbage in a burn barrel at the time.
βIt (the fire) then crept from the barrel across the yard and got to the barn,β he said.
About two acres were burned but the fire was contained to the farmstead area, Woehl said.
There were no injuries and there is no official estimate yet available as to the amount of damage.
Seven trucks and 14 firefighters responded to the scene.
JRFD was on site for about 2 1/2 hours, Woehl said.
No further information was available.
