Carla Edinger, membership/program director at the North Dakota Farmers Union Office, was the guest speaker at the Jamestown Rotary Club weekly meeting. She was introduced by Rotary member Duane Dunn.

Edinger discussed the upcoming Women In Leadership Development (WILD) conference to be held at the North Dakota Farmers Union headquarters in Jamestown. The conference is being held to give women the information they need to take on leadership roles in their communities. The board of directors of the NDFU came up with the idea, recognizing that women needed more support in order to become more active in such things as local boards of directors and committees. The keynote speaker is Jessie Veeder, who is a rancher, professional musician and writer from western North Dakota. She has presented to audiences across the country. The conference is to be held Sept. 21 and registration can be made online at www.ndfu.org/wild.

Quincy Backen presided over the meeting. “Happy Dollars” were collected by Sergeant of Arms Harvey Huber. The invocation was given by Darell Losing and Doug Panchot led the singing. Blaine Bergstedt gave a two-minute talk. Carrie Orn reminded club members to sell tickets for the rose sale. Roses will be picked up at Don’s House of Flowers and the Buffalo Mall.

Next week Rick Pfeiffer will give the invocation and songs will be directed by Bergstedt. Sergeant of arms is Tom Boerger. Tom Eckstein is in charge of the program.
