The Jamestown/ Stutsman Development Corp. has a New Jobs Training Program that is designed to help businesses that are looking to expand through increased employment.
The business must be a primary sector business, which means through the employment of knowledge or labor, the business adds value to product, process or service that results in creation of new wealth.
The business must be expanding or relocating in the Jamestown/Stutsman area.
Incoming employees must be paid a minimum of $12 per hour plus benefits within the first 12 months of employment.
Eldermark is an example of how the New Jobs Training Fund can help a business.
“We used the money to send people to training, trade shows for education, and it went towards the salaries of the in-house trainers” said Katie Schauer, office manager at Eldermark.
Without the loan, Eldermark might not be where it is today.
“It definitely gave us incentive to locate in Jamestown,” Schauer said.
