Derek Elliott returned the opening kick of the game back for a 90-yard touchdown to account for the only points to give Valley City State a 7-0 halftime lead over Jamestown College.

The Jimmies (1-3) have dominated the game otherwise, but have missed two field goals and turned it over deep in Valley City State Saturday afternoon at Rollie Greeno Field.

Valley City State, ranked 20th in the NAIA, is 2-1. The Jimmies are 1-3.

The Paint Bucket is a stake. VCSU holds a 31-28 lead since 1961. The rivalry dates back 100 years.
