Bismarck firm to be honored for ND Guard support

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — A Bismarck company is being honored Monday for a national award for its support of the National Guard members and their families.

Basin Electric Power Cooperative is one of 15 employers around the country to be honored with the 2012 Secretary of Defense Freedom Award.

Lieutenant Gov. Drew Wrigley, National Guard Col. David Thiele and Basin CEO Andrew Serri are slated to speak at the event.

The award was instituted in 1996 to recognize exceptional support from employers.

Ag Country Farm Credit Services of Fargo won the award in 2006
