Conlon qualifies for state meet

Diving continues to be a staple for the Jamestown High School girls swimming and diving team.

In addition to Alex Lind and Abby Wanzek qualifying for state already, the Blue Jays got a third qualifier on Saturday at the UND Invite in Grand Forks.

Abbie Conlon’s total of 283.5 points means she’s the seventh qualifier overall for the Blue Jays, who finished seventh out of nine teams with 174 points.

Lind, the defending state champion, took care of business, easily outdistancing the competition with 424.6 points. Teammate Abby Wanzek finished fifth with 318.15 points. Conlon’s total put her in ninth place.

The Blue Jays got a runner-up finish from Annie Hart in the 100-meter backstroke. She had a time of 1 minute, 2.02 seconds. She also placed in the 50 freestyle, taking second. Additionally, she helped the 200 freestyle relay take fifth.

Kamie Wagar was also on that relay, and she brought home fifth place in the butterfly.

The Blue Jays will make their way to Fargo for a dual against Davies on Tuesday.
