Sobriety checkpoint yields arrests

On Sept. 21, the North Dakota Highway Patrol, Jamestown Police Department and Stutsman County Sheriff’s Department conducted a sobriety checkpoint in the 1100 block of 19th Street NE in Jamestown.

On Sept. 21, the North Dakota Highway Patrol, Jamestown Police Department and Stutsman County Sheriff’s Department conducted a sobriety checkpoint in the 1100 block of 19th Street NE in Jamestown.

The checkpoint was conducted from 8 to 10 p.m.

Both eastbound and westbound drivers were screened by officers at the checkpoint.

During the checkpoint, six drivers were tested for impairment, with two of the drivers arrested for driving under the influence (DUI). One of the drivers arrested for DUI was also charged with driving under suspension.

An alcohol saturation was conducted after the checkpoint on Sept. 21, and again on Sept. 22.

The sobriety checkpoint and subsequent alcohol saturation by the NDHP resulted in the following arrests: five DUI, two driving under suspension, one minor in possession/consumption of alcohol, one open container of alcoholic beverage, one delivery of alcohol to a minor, one possession of marijuana and one unlawful possession of marijuana paraphernalia.
