Jamestown College’s Craig Anderson has been named the Special Teams Player of the Week by Beyond Sports Network.

Anderson, a senior from Hartsville, South Carolina, averaged 46 yards per punt in the Jimmies 13-10 loss to 21st-ranked Valley City State on Saturday. Anderson’s five punts covered 230 yards with a long of 68 against the Vikings.

It was another big game for the strong-legged Anderson, who ranks seventh in the NAIA in punting average at 43.1 per kick. He’s had more chances to kick than the Jimmies would like — 24 punts in five games — but he’s been effective with those 24 attempts going for 1,035 yards. Anderson had a season-best 79-yarder against Concordia on Sept. 1.

Anderson also has been perfect kicking field goals and extra points. He’s 2-for-2 on PATs and made a 25-yard field goal against the Vikings on Saturday.

The Jimmies (1-4) are back in action on Saturday at Mayville State. The Comets are off to a 3-1 start.
