Letter to the editor: Gulleson is the candidate who knows what N.D. needs

Matthew Kopp’s Sept. 5 letter tried to paint U.S. House candidate Pam Gulleson as “out of touch.”

Matthew Kopp’s Sept. 5 letter tried to paint U.S. House candidate Pam Gulleson as “out of touch.”

I think you, the readers, decide who is “out of touch.” The candidate who wants to privatize Social Security and put it in the hands of Wall Street, or the candidate who thinks it is a pretty good program and should be strengthened, not privatized? The candidate who thinks it’s fine to turn Medicare into a voucher program and tells senior citizens to hunt for an insurance carrier who will cover them, or the candidate who will work to keep and improve the Medicare program we know and trust? The candidate who thinks the farm bill will be fine if we let it lapse, or the candidate who would have done everything she could to pass the Senate farm bill before the old one runs out?

If you want to privatize Social Security, turn Medicare into vouchers, and ignore the farm bill, then vote for Gulleson’s opponent, Kevin Cramer. I had the privilege of service with Gulleson in the North Dakota House of Representatives. She has the education, experience and toughness to be North Dakota’s next great member of the U.S. House. All she needs is your vote.
