Optimist Club cites athletes for awards

Siri Jystad, Rachel Morin and Phillip Manley of Jamestown High School and Jamestown College’s Sarah Becker and Tommy Rockis have been named Athletes of the Week by the Jamestown Optimist Club.

Siri Jystad, Rachel Morin and Phillip Manley of Jamestown High School and Jamestown College’s Sarah Becker and Tommy Rockis have been named Athletes of the Week by the Jamestown Optimist Club.

Becker, a junior from Rochester, Minn., on the Jimmie volleyball team, notched 65 kills with only five errors in 126 attempts, hitting .516 for the week. She also had 14 blocks as the Jimmies were 4-1 for the week.

Rockis, a junior from Roseau, Minn., on the Jimmie golf team, won the Valley City State Invitational by 12 strokes and then took medalist honors at the Jamestown College Invite to finish off the first half of the season.
