Valley City Epworth United Methodist Women’s Annual Bazaar and Luncheon fundraiser for missions will be Oct. 6 at the church, located at 680 Eighth Ave. SW.
Barb Young is leading the group effort to provide a apple harvest Saturday for the community with a luncheon and craft sale. Craft shopping hours are from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. UMW will serve the luncheon from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at tables decorated with “apple delights” that will be sold.
Gift baskets have become Epworth’s trademark. Epworth’s “treasure trove” shops of gifts and foods for sale, including handcrafted doll beds with storage, children’s travel pillows, velvet-lined ribbon headbands, children’s activity bags, scarves, fleece ponchos, lefse, bakery items, dish cloths and more.
Members have prepared an “Apple Harvest” themed basket that will be given away through a drawing.
“Heavenly Creations,” Epworth’s 2011 collection of recipes, contains the recipes for this year’s luncheon menu and will be available for sale.
The luncheon menu includes a chicken tortilla wrap and choice of lasagna soup or white chili. The menu will also include a choice of apple crisp or pumpkin squares. The luncheon is $7.
Young, chairperson, and Bev Enger, Epworth’s UMW president, said the event will enable the women to help support local missions such as Salvation Army, Faith and Action, Barnes County Food Pantry, Valley City’s Abused Persons Outreach Center as well as national and world missions.
With the recent addition to Epworth, more space will accommodate the bazaar. There are no steps and plenty of parking is available.
After people finish shopping they can leave their items at the “Park and Shop” before going to the luncheon in the dining room. Carryout services are available also.
