Blue Jays blow away Minot

A slow start did little to slow down the steamrolling Jamestown High School volleyball team. The Blue Jays posted their fifth straight West Region sweep in dispatching of Minot on Friday night. It was another road win as well for the 15-5 Blue Jays, who improved to 8-2 in West Region affairs.

The Blue Jays posted their fifth straight West Region sweep in dispatching of Minot on Friday night. It was another road win as well for the 15-5 Blue Jays, who improved to 8-2 in West Region affairs.

“We started a little slow. Their crowd was pumped up and making some noise,” JHS coach Sara Hegerle said.

But the Blue Jays quickly turned things around, winning 25-21, 25-10 and 25-14.

“This may have been the best overall we’ve played this year,” Hegerle said. “(Our) passing was really, really good. Defense was good. We blocked a bunch of balls. … We were in system so much because we controlled the ball.”

McKayla and Meghan Orr each had 17 digs, while Addie Eamon’s four blocks were team-leading. Siri Jystad had three stuffs.

They also kept their cool in a hostile environment.

“They were really composed, really calm. It was fun to see that side of them,” Hegerle said.
