Early harvest overflowing grain elevators

CLEVELAND, N.D. (AP) — Elevators in North Dakota are overflowing because of an earlier than average harvest.

WDAY reports (http://bit.ly/QrLOc6) that the soybean harvest is running nearly three weeks ahead of normal.

The Country Grain Cooperative in the town of Cleveland says it has been the fastest soybean harvest in the last 30 years. The yard's elevator was filled in just 15 days, with the 700,000 bushels of soybeans spilling over to additional piles on the ground.

The co-op won't dump any more trucks until a train arrives.

Cleveland elevator manager Kevin Knodel says the yields are better than last year and prices are phenomenal.

Many farmers are now also starting to combine corn.
