BISMARCK (AP) — A Belcourt man has been sentenced to three years and 10 months in federal prison for being a felon in possession of a firearm.
U.S. Attorney Timothy Purdon said 28-year-old Jordan Short was sentenced Friday in Bismarck federal court.
Authorities said Short was driving a vehicle on the Turtle Mountain Indian Reservation in Oct. 2011 when a Bureau of Indian Affairs officer attempted to stop him for a traffic violation.
Authorities said Short fled in the vehicle and on foot. Authorities say a handgun was found in the vehicle.
Short was prohibited from possessing a firearm because of two prior felony convictions in 2004 and 2006 that included theft and aggravated assault.
