Jewels of Prairie to meet at airport

The Jewels of the Prairie, the local Red Hat Chapter, will meet at 10:30 a.m. Oct. 9 at the new terminal of Jamestown Regional Airport for coffee and coffeecake with Matthew Leitner, airport manager.

Leitner will have tales of flying in his new plane as well as some of the airport’s history. Call Loretta Aipperspach (952-0804) or Florence Goehner (252-0378) by Sunday to RSVP.

Twenty-two Jewels met at the home of Dan and Barb Bjorum in Valley City in September. During the tour of the yard and home they saw crafts, recycling ideas and a remodeled home that not only was a home for them but a haven for grandchildren with an attic to play in as well as a basement playhouse. There was an outdoor patio with paneless windows. Dan Bjorum had cut a small round table in half made into bedside tables. The Jewels were served a dinner followed by homemade desserts. Birthdays were acknowledged and announcements were made.
