Applications open for heating aid

BISMARCK (AP) — Applications are being accepted beginning Monday for a program that helps low-income people pay their heating bills.
The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services said about 13,700 people received assistance last year under the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program.
The so-called LIHEAP program helps eligible families pay for home heating and home weatherizing.
To qualify, a household can earn up to 60 percent of the state median income. For a family of three, that equals about $39,000 per year.
