Letter to the editor: Republicans present warped view of Democrats’ platform

Apparently Cindy Hinz has got Democrats confused with Republicans in her letter, printed in The Jamestown Sun Sept. 24 with the title “Democrats are out of touch with the country.” Not only is the Republican Party out of touch with the country, it is out of touch with the truth.
Hinz listed a number of wildly distorted claims about the Democratic Party platform, and then asked: “North Dakota Democrats: Is this really the platform you believe in?” The answer is no, because it was not our platform. That’s the Republican version of our platform.
The platform North Dakota Democrats believe in is the actual one we as Democrats voted on and approved at our state convention and is available to the public at http://www.demnpl.com/about -us/party-platform-and-resolutions/.
Hinz suggests going to the anti-Obama movie “2016” to help decide who to vote for. This movie has been fact checked and found to be controversial at best. For something based on reality, I suggest watching the real-life movie of Milt Romney caught on camera at a $50,000/plate fundraiser, trashing 47 percent of America as a bunch of lazy “victims” living off the government. Go to http://youtu.be/XnB0NZzl5HA to see it.
People do have important choices to make. Like believing the Republican version of the Democratic platform, or reading the real one for yourself.
