Valley City State University will host the North Dakota University System Arts and Humanities Summit Oct. 11-12.

During this event, scholars and artists from across the state will gather to present and share their work in visual arts, music, readings, theater and scholarship.

“As coordinator of the event, I know the level of scholarship and artistry at the event will be incredible,” said Dr. Jonna Ziniel, associate professor of communication arts at VCSU and chair of the committee organizing the event. “We received proposals from across the state and from every institution within the NDUS. This prestigious event is a true collaboration of the best in music, art, literature, and scholarship from North Dakota.”

The summit presents an opportunity to experience what North Dakota has to offer in the arts and humanities. The event will attract scholars and artists from throughout the North Dakota University System and will include discussion panels, presentations, readings, concerts, performances, and exhibitions to showcase the work of the NDUS.

The summit will also feature special guest Joy Harjo, award winning musician and writer. She will perform a concert in Froemke Auditorium at 7 p.m. on Oct. 11 and a reading at 10 a.m. on Oct. 12, with a book signing to follow.
