Athletes cited for weekly awards

Annie Hart of Jamestown High School and Jolynn Warnes and Lance Johansen of Jamestown College have been named Athletes of the Week by the Jamestown Optimist Club.

Hart, a sophomore on the JHS swimming team, placed first in the 50-yard freestyle at the University of Minnesota Invitational in Minneapolis on Sept. 29.

Warnes, a sophomore from Kensington, Minn., on the JC women’s soccer team, had a goal and two assists in helping the Jimmies to a pair of wins over Great Falls (Mont.) last weekend.

Johansen, a senior from Devils Lake on the Jimmie football team, ran for 110 yards and had a 38-yard touchdown catch in the Jimmies’ 21-20 win over Mayville State on Sept. 29. He also had 32 yards on three punt returns. Johansen has run for over 100 yards in three straight games.
