Blue Jays go 2-1 at Fargo invite

Despite a disappointing showing against Grand Forks Red River Friday night, the Blue Jays did make it into the Gold Division of Fargo Invitational.

Jamestown swept Wahpeton and LaMoure, but lost in straight sets to the Roughriders.

“We were sluggish. Not a lot of intensity, urgency or energy,” JHS coach Sara Hegerle said. “But that’s OK. We needed a wake-up call, a little humble pie. We have to play better (today) and the girls know that.”

The Blue Jays rolled over Wahpeton 25-12, 25-16 and LaMoure 25-8, 25-15.

Red River did the same, however, 25-16, 25-17 to Jamestown.

“We just didn’t play very well,” Hegerle said.

Addie Eamon led in kills (17) and blocks (3). Siri Jystad had four aces and 11 kills. Josie Hegerle’s 38 assists were team-leading, while McKayla Orr had 44 digs.

The Blue Jays face Bismarck Century today at 9:30 a.m. The top eight teams advanced to the Gold Division.
