St. Mary’s beats Jays in qualifier

Bismarck St. Mary’s scored less than four minutes into the game and never looked back en route to a 4-0 win over Jamestown at the West Region Tournament on Friday in Mandan.

Bismarck St. Mary’s scored less than four minutes into the game and never looked back en route to a 4-0 win over Jamestown at the West Region Tournament on Friday in Mandan.

The Saints advanced to the state tournament with the win. Minot also advanced with an 8-0 win over Mandan. Bismarck and Century had already qualified.

Andrew Kopp scored the first goal of the game to put the Saints up 1-0 at the 3:29 mark.

Jamestown goalie Hunter Munson was under attack all night. The Saints outshot the Blue Jays 32-2 and 23 of the shots were on frame. Munson had 19 stops.

Kopp and Weisbeck each had two goals for the Saints.
