JHS boys place second in Rugby

Kyle Schumacher and Michael Sorensen placed fifth and sixth to lead the Jamestown High School boys cross country team to a runner-up finish at the Rugby Invite on Saturday.
The Blue Jays placed second out of 33 teams with four of the top 19 runners.
Schumacher led the way, crossing in 17 minutes, 31 seconds for fifth. Sorensen was just four seconds behind his teammate.
The Blue Jays had four of the top 19 finishers as Aaron Ford (18:10) was 13th and Phil Manley (18:20) came in 19th. Kyle Gee (18:43) rounded out the top five in 27th.
Jamestown’s score of 70 trailed only New Town (59).
The Blue Jay girls placed fifth as a team.
Maya Moltzen had the top finish in a time of 16:35, good for 23rd.
Ligia Schultz was the second JHS runner to finish, coming in 42nd (17:09).
Rachel Morin (17:47), Emma Bennett (17:510 and Teralyn Coombs (18:22) rounded out the scoring.
Jamestown hosts the West Region meet on Saturday at Hillcrest, beginning at 1 p.m.
Also Saturday in Rugby, Dakota Prairie’s Ashley Perez (15:38) crossed third. Barnes County North’s Tess Scott was fifth in 15:45.
