The Jamestown College men’s soccer team is back to its winning ways.

After going a perfect 10-0 to start the 2012 season, the Jimmies were recently put on their heels a bit in back-to-back home losses to Rocky Mountain College and the University of Great Falls.

But a new winning streak may have started for Jamestown College, as the Jimmies upended Concordia College 3-1 Wednesday in Moorhead.

The Jimmies received a pair of first-half goals by Jonathon Lodge and Jade Johnson against the now 5-9 Cobbers, giving Jamestown College a 2-0 lead after the opening 45 minutes. The Cobbers were only able to muster a pair of shots in the first half, with just one of those shots on goal.

Concordia’s offense struggled even further in the second half against the Jimmie defense. The Cobbers went the entire second 45 minutes with just one shot on goal, as Jamestown College goalkeeper Thomas Cooke recorded only one first-half save in the win.

The Jimmies went ahead 3-0 with just over 10 minutes to play on Johnson’s second goal. Jamestown College’s Ellis Riley, Matt Balshaw and Brain Bruyneel all picked up assists during the Jimmie victory.

The Cobbers’ lone goal came just moments after Johnson’s second. With 9:05 left to play, Matt Winkels put Concordia on the scoreboard with a shot that was partially blocked by Cooke in the net.

The Jimmies (11-2) travel to Davenport, Iowa on Tuesday to face the Saint Ambrose University Bees. The Bees are 9-3-1 on the season.

Jamestown College has five more regular season matches left on the schedule prior to the start of the A.I.I Tournament, which will be held Nov. 10-11 at California State University San Marcos.
