Athletes chosen for weekly awards
Alex Lind, Sierra Bennion and Aaron Ford of Jamestown High School and Jamestown College’s Aleona Reyes and Jack Keeling have been named Athletes of the Week by the Jamestown Optimist Club. Lind, a senior on the JHS diving team, broke a 6-dive pool record at Mandan on Friday.

Lind, a senior on the JHS diving team, broke a 6-dive pool record at Mandan on Friday.
Bennion, a freshman golfer at JHS, finished fourth at the state meet with a score of 160, the third-best in school history at the state meet. She had rounds of 79 and 81 and finished the season with a scoring average of 81.3, fifth-best in school history. She earned all-state and all-West Region honors.
Ford, a junior on the JHS cross country team, finished 13th in a personal-best time of 18 minutes, 10 seconds at the Rugby Booster Club Invite on Saturday, helping the Blue Jays to a runner-up team finish.
Reyes, a junior from Belen, N.M., on the Jimmie cross country team, won the Roe Granger Invite in Aberdeen for the second straight year. Her time of 19 minutes, 1.15 seconds was faster than in 2011.
Keeling, a sophomore from Leamington Spa, England on the JC men’s soccer team, had another strong day from his midfield spot, earning an assist on the Jimmies’ goal in their 3-1 loss to Rocky Mountain on Sunday. Keeling suffered an ankle injury and had to leave the game.
