The Jamestown High School volleyball team continues to dominate.
The Blue Jays made Bismarck St. Mary’s their latest victim with a 25-23, 25-17, 25-14 West Region sweep Thursday in Bismarck.
Only the first game was close, with Jamestown rolling thereafter.
“A lot of times if you play a match like that, the first game is always the tightest,” JHS coach Sara Hegerle said. “There’s a lot of energy and excitement for both sides. We kind of settled into what we’re used to doing — passing and serving tough.”
Jenna Stilwell posted a match-high 13 kills, and Siri Jystad and Addie Eamon added nine and six, respectively for the Jays, who got their seventh consecutive sweep over a region opponent to improve to 9-2 in the conference and 21-7 overall.
“Our hitting percentage was really high — we hit .331 as a team,” Hegerle said.
Julina Niemeier had a match-high four aces, while McKayla Orr had 20 digs. Sister Meghan Orr finished with 14 digs, and Josie Hegerle had a team-high 22 assists.
“This is where we want to be,” Sara Hegerle said. “I think we’ve shown that we’re playing pretty consistently. … We don’t need to get really pumped up or down in the dumps. If we stay steady and take care of the ball, good things are gonna happen.”
The Blue Jays have a big one coming up. Dickinson visits Jamestown on Tuesday night, set for 7 p.m. The Jays will be looking to avenge a five-game road loss from earlier this season.
